Independent pack-opening estimates

In a TCGplayer study of more than 4,000 English Pitch Black booster packs, a Special Illustration Rare appeared approximately once per 80 packs. The reported Mega Hyper Rare rate was 0.09% per pack, with a stated 95% confidence margin of ±0.09 percentage points, so this very rare category remains particularly uncertain. These are observed rarity-level estimates for booster packs, not official production ratios, specific-card odds or guarantees for this display box.
